Continued from my previous post: 300+ Hours into Horizon Forbidden West
Hunting Grounds Trials are unforgiving in Zero Dawn, but I feel like they are even more irrational in Forbidden West. Certain challenges seem to be about repeating them until you luck out. For example: Hunting Grounds: Sheerside Mountains / Plasma Blast Trial. I was stuck on this challenge for a while.
This trial requires you to build up the Plasma Blast state on a Rollerback, then try to damage the Rollerback as much as possible before the Plasma Blast state ends. You have to do the sequence twice. While attempting it, the Rollerback plus three Bellowbacks will come at Aloy (your character) incessantly. Most of the time, I didn’t get to do anything other than sprint away from them. My successful round happened when those three Bellowbacks somehow didn’t start attacking Aloy too soon. Even the Rollerback cooperated – it didn’t crazily roll towards or too far away from Aloy. Only when they stopped behaving normally was I able to achieve the full rewards (Full Stripes).
Victory by chance like this was also the case for me with some Melee Pits and Maw of the Arena challenges. I like the Horizon series as I mentioned in the previous post. I love those robot machines and the amazing graphics. But these irrational side challenges did dent my mood at times.
Did you play Horizon Zero Dawn and/or Forbidden West? What do you think about it/them?
